Brony Advice: Your Questions Answered #113/14/15!
#113) Three months ago...I went to brony meet-up in my local area. I won't say where it was so it won't look bad on other bronies from the area but there were about 17 people there. One was a guy and he and me got on really well at the meet-up. We decided to meet up a few more times just the two of us. We met up three times and everything was fine. I found out he smoked pot and drank a lot at the third meeting and said I didn't like it but he was okay with that and I didn't mind too much. Anyway after that we were talking through Skype like normal but he was kind of excited to meet up again and he said he loved me. He lives about an hour and

I do have some extended family that I treat as little brothers and sisters though, because they've always looked up to me and I naturally fell into the role.
So I really love reading that you bonded with your little sister over MLP. I recently bonded with my nephews over it, myself. They are 10 and 12, and though they were a bit wary of watching a girl's cartoon, after showing them the funnier episodes they really warmed up to it and didn't mind at all who it was aimed at. Of course, I already am a big hit with them because we share a love of Star Wars, so it was easier than if I had gone in cold. The bigger idea though is that it's a great feeling to bond with family over common interests, and certainly something to be encouraged, whether it's over MLP or any other thing.
#117 I like Cudpug's answer, so I thought I'd put a more in-universe spin on the question.
Could it be that in this universe the X chromosome is dominant? Perhaps in the deepest depths of their evolutionary chain the female proved to be more of an asset than the male of the species. This is true of real animal species. Some, like ants, are dominated by females because they provide for the group. Others do it because their reproductive rate is slow and so they need more females to keep the species going.
This may also be related to how love, harmony, joy, etc. seem to be real, tangible things. The female brain is more oriented toward emotion than the male brain, and if this is related to the aforementioned emotional states then the female would naturally be the dominant of the species because of the survival aspect of being more in tune with their emotions then males. It's an interesting thought experiment to wonder what would result from love and such being able to be made manifest in a physical and very real way, even to the point of being weaponized.
#118 Cudpug is very right about conventions being dominated by the uber-fans.
For us sci-fi geeks, similar events like ComiCon are the equivalent of Mecca. We make an annual pilgrimage to a faraway location to meet up with people just as crazy-obsessed as we are, and I'm sure it's the same with My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. People naturally want to socialize with like-minded individuals, and unless you're religious and go to church every Sunday, you have to find a venue to do this, and it's not always easy to find.
For some, it's as simple as finding a local watering hole to jaw with fellow sports fans. But for fandoms that are not quite as popular, even if they are becoming mainstream, it becomes necessary to seek out a common meeting ground, and in a country the size of this one you run into the problem of having to spend a lot of money on travel expenses alone to meet up with people. This naturally pares down the number of people attending said event to include mainly those who are so heavily invested in it that they feel it's worth the expense. The ones who are not as far into it typically live close enough to justify the trip.
So yeah, you're definitely going to run into the super-fans and might even "experience" a hug from a sweaty, costume-adorned brony.
Everfree as in Everfree Northwest? It's not till July, why is there so much buzz about it right now?
I am, fairly new to this though, but I pretty much am used to all the characters now!
And bonds, especially family bondings
are so beautiful.
Also, you sir, I love your responses.
I shall keep up to date! ^^^D
