The above features seven quotes from people angered by 'Alicorn Twilight' and seven quotes from people who don't seem to mind taken from around the internet. Where do you stand?
I'm fine with Twilicorn, but the episode should have been a two-parter. The singing was almost half the episode! Making it a one-parter made it feel a bit rushed...
I know I mentioned this already but I like Alicorn Twi. I just wish that people should realize that it's just a cartoon. Nothing wrong with that, I swear.
Honestly i welcome Twilicorn, sure they kind of rushed the episode and her transformation but in the end it definitely opens up many possibilities for fan art and fan fictions and other fan made content which in-turn helps the community grow in a way.
ive been a fan of the show since its beginning and im not gonna end my Bronyhood because of one little episode.
The only dissapointments for me were the fact that the conflict, while deliciously well done, was short and from there it was just sugar sugar sugar. But I think if I were to really be bothered by that, it would just be silly.
This is supposed to be a children's show, we have to remember to stop expecting too much from them.
The other thing was that at the end Twilight was flying like she'd known how all her life. I was hoping to watch her taking a flying lesson from Rainbow Dash.... And crashing/falling/skidding into a bush or two. XD
Form the impression I get, the hate for the princess part, claiming its a stereotypical portrayal of girls and that it sets a bad example.
But realize this: Based on the article given, it seems that being a princess is something earned and not given, and it's not about being glamorous and pretty. It means being responsible and being there for your friends and fellow subjects and doing what is best for the sake of others and not just your own. If you ask me, it sounds like a perfect lesson to teach to a young girl.
I remember Meghan saying on her Twitter that the type of princess she had in mind for Twilight would be similar to Princess Leia. Now if I recall from the Star Wars movies, Leia was a princess who prioritized the concerns of her people, was involved in a lot of political matters, and even fought in the front lines if she had to. Imagining Twilight being a princess like that is pretty inspiring don't you think?
On Meghan saying that this will not change Twilight personally: Again, another lesson I think would be good. Pretty sure you've had friends who eventually reached a higher status than you and you assume that they'll be a different person and not be your friend anymore. Which is not true, no matter what changes happen to someone, they will still be your friend.
That's my two bits on the whole Alicorn Twilight Princess thing. Personally I'm actually excited on this new change of development for Twilight. It also shows that the staff have the guts to change that status quo in order for the show to evolve.
All I can think of is to wait and see, I know Twilight being herself even when she gain wings. She'll still be the lovely librarian we know. The whole fight is mostly based on the current phrase of judging the book by its cover. Hopefully she'll be just another Cadance. I for one has a theory on immortality, I say it's the magic mane & tail, not by wings & horn altogether.
Of course, Cadance was hated at first as I remember and today she became one of the most beloved ponies as well. Oh, Chrysalis is another even though she's a changeling. Like Spike would to say, "Snap out of it!" Just wait and see. I can't tell if it's the Hasbro executives behave like those from Electronic Arts or was it the crew are going down the drain, but when the answer comes out, we will see its outcome. I pray that the show don't end up as the next Spongebob (Yeap, SB's founder left and then the show became more terrible than ever, I hope FiM don't suffer the same fate as SB as today).
In addition, speaking of Electronic Arts, the point is, when you want more cash, a quick rich-like scheme like the game called "Command & Conquer 4" can turn everything upside-down. When your head is full of money, you're asking for more losses than more gains. Blizzard & Valve did better jobs when the quality games speak for themselves, in the end, more revenue automatically.
When messing with the fandom, that's like playing with fire. I pray that the execs must understand that gaining more money through very risky steps that compromises the fandom doesn't mean it's a good idea, it can result in a horror show, look what happened at Electronic Arts instead? The Execs apologizes and regrets, existing developers resign in favor of their own studio, rushing quality will always never work, etc.. Be like Blizzard, Hasbro execs! You don't want to end up with the same consequences like those of EA, right?

But again, we're all probably expecting too much.
Overall I'm OK with the new changes.
